I don't know about you, but in this age of digital files, instant message and smartphones, I hardly print out anything these days except for mailing shipping labels and the occasional monochrome sheet or two. Our current inkjet photo printer is overkill and most of the color capabilities go unused, so I think I'll be trading it in for this compact wireless laser printer. Rated for 19ppm and up to 1200 x 1200 dpi effective output, it's good and plenty for home office use, and should be about a third smaller than the full size photo printer we're currently using. And best yet, I won't have to replace the toner for 1,500 pages instead of the seemingly "print 10 pages, then refill" cycle with an inkjet.

Don't buy this monumental piece of junk.
It CONSTANTLY drops off the network, is a pain to set up, and the print quality is average.
By all means dump the inkjet and go back to laser, but not if it means never being able to print anything out when you actually want to!
Lachlan: thanks for your personal feedback about this model. Did you pick an alternative model you like/recommend?
Haven't tried any of the Samsungs, but I've had a Brother 2170W for several years, and it's perfect for my infrequent printing needs. It even lived under the couch until I moved to a bigger apartment.
Second the Brother 2170W, its suited me perfectly for the past two years. Separate drum cartridge means super cheap toner too, only $16 at Monoprice and rated for 2600 pages. Hard to beat.
Thirding Brother. I have a 2040 that's still on the original toner after five years.
I have a Brother 2140, and in 5 years have only needed one new cartridge.
I even put a Dell wireless adaptor for it before Brother came out with a wireless version - so that would DEFINITELY be the one I'd buy.
Unfortunately, I'm now stuck with the Samsung (I couldn't return it), but I still have the Brother under the desk for 90% of my printing.
The Brother printers in this form factor do really well. The larger ones sometimes have print quality issues.
But having an "inkjet photo printer" for pinting black and white isn't always bad. We have many of the hp officejet 8500 and 8600 series that print ~25 ppm and we get atleast 2000 pages per cartridge (did i mention this was a multifunction?). Also, we just bought a half dozen new 8600s for $150 from staples.
