If you haven't switched all your regular bulbs to LEDs yet, but somehow have managed to buy a whole new set of energy-saving LED Christmas lights, put them to use year round for some mood lighting.

A simple socket adapter can turn a lamp or dome light into sparkling mood lighting.

The adapter can be had for a few bucks from any home improvement store and combined with a string of LED lights you probably already own to power a unique lamp. Just rest the cool-to-the-touch string inside the lamp's bowl or dome and you're done!

The great thing is that a 50-bulb string uses less than 5 watts of electricity and can be had for less than an LED bulb—especially in this after-Christmas season.
