Layla and Kevin from The Lettered Cottage took an unusually small room in their home—just 6' x 6'!—and turned it into a bright, cozy guest room with a unique feature. Wanting to bring some depth and interest to the walls, they decided to pick up some old gymnasium flooring at an architectural salvage store and—you guessed it— nail it right up on the wall.
To get the boards clean and wall-ready, they used plain soap and water, mineral spirits, and a good dose of old-fashioned elbow grease. Then it was just a matter of laying a vertical hardwood floor!

Sprout Side Table
What a clever idea! We get so bogged down on what materials are for that sometimes we need to be hit in the head with a fab room like this to jar our creativity. Kudos!
