We'd like to hang on to many of the diverse glass jars that cycle through our kitchen. But with limited space for storage, many jars find their way into the recycling bin before their time. These attractive lids and spouts from designer Jorre van Ast prolong the life of ordinary glass jars by reinventing them as pitchers, shakers and cruet sets...

This idea is extremely simple and very smart. Not only are the jars reused, but they are actually made more attractive. We love this! Via: Core77.

I love these! Where can I get them?
brilliant!
cool! yes...where to buy?
and that is what product design should be...I hope they don't cost too much.
would love to know where to get these! love them!
According to this page: http://www.designws.com/pagina/1jorre08.htm
it looks like they're not for sale yet. :-(
It is "royal VKB". Some stores sell their products, maybe we will see them soon?
Yes! If you could, please (and thank you!) post again when these are available to the public.
What's the point of saving jars to reuse them if you are going to throw out the perfectly usable lids and replace them with something else? I thought the point of reuse was to REDUCE our consumption, not to create a market for yet more products.
these are fantastic!
oh I love these!
I think these are great, I would definitely be interested in buying them. Wonder what other colours will be available?
What a super idea!
I'll take the red ones.
The lids can still be recycled, and metal lids rust and become unusable anyway. This is an ingenious invention that makes a product destined for the recycling bin super useful. Please update us when it becomes available!
And the metal lids don't have to be thrown away just because you get one of these. I assume these tops are removable. You not only would have jars reusable for both storing and serving but one does not have to consume more by buying unitasker pitchers and shakers. I love this idea, the colors are great too!
This is a great idea, but am I the only one who finds these particular tops ugly?
Cassis, Yes you are. :)
Fabulous! Simple and practical. That first picture reminds me of 70's Tupperware, but I like that. Probably the avocado-ness of the color.
really brilliant
I love them. Yes they are kind of ugly, but in a comforting 70's thrift-store way. I would be all over a harvest gold or olive-avocado green set of these.
These have a definite IKEA quality to them. I love the red. Would happily purchase, and I adore glass over plastic tupperware, anyday. Seems more sterile, to me.
agreed, smart and simple! i reuse my jars for storing and serving, these would come in handy!
Flippin' brilliant :)
here's an update. I emailed the company, and they're not for sale in the states yet but apparently you can order them from a German website:
