ReVerb: Speaker Powered by Light

We're looking for good quality speakers to incorporate into our home; one of us doesn't care about aesthetics &mdash only quality of sound. The other one cares much more about aesthetics than sound quality (guess which one that is!) Finally &mdash a solution from a familiar source; Regen.

Regen is now taking pre-orders for their latest piece of technology &mdash the ReVerb. The ReVerb is a stylish and sleek solar powered (with the option of traditional electric power) speaker. Don't get stuck on the solar powered aspect; this thing claims to pack a punch.

When the ReVerb is fully charged it can provide up to 12 hours of high quality sound. It also generates the sound equivalent to a 60-watt conventional speaker. The solar powered speaker will play music files from any music device that has a headphone jack.

To fully charge the ReVerb via sunlight, you simply place it in an area with direct sunlight. When charged outdoors in direct sunlight charge time is 20 hours; indoor charging is 40 hours. It includes a USB mini B socket for power supply, 2 USB A sockets, 1 Headphone input as well as 1 Audio input.

Pre-order for $2,299 ($500 deposit) for a ship date of April 2010.
