Riad Decor specializes in imported furniture from Morocco, Indonesia, India and Asia. The furniture is hand picked by the buyers, so the quality and workmanship is top notch.
While this furniture hit its trend-stride a few years back, once the dust settles from the over saturation of the (specifically Moroccan) furniture, what is left is the beautifully crafted, stunningly colored pieces.
When thinking about this furniture in one’s home, some overused yet appropriate words come to mind like eclectic and bohemian But in truth, we like those words.
These pieces are what we think personalize a room, and while most decorators will suggest keeping bigger furniture in neutrals and getting a colorful ashtray or frame to liven a space, we say what about this stunning chest of drawers? I think Riad has L.A.'s best selection and variety of Moroccan textiles (though in varying grades of quality) and top-notch furniture. They also have a great selection of Tadelakt ceramics at a very fair price. If you're shopping specifically for Moroccan, I would also recommend another shop to visit in addition to Riad: Mosaik on Beverly Blvd (1 block west of La Brea). Mosaik has a fewer textiles to choose from, but the quality is better. Also, they have the city's best selection of lighting and candle lanterns. They were the only place in town that had several overscaled Khoutoubia candle lanterns in stock. With the popularity of this design style the past few years, it's easy to find knock-offs from Asia and Latin America. But I like the idea of sticking with authentic Moroccan pieces...
One final recommendation, if you want to shop outside of L.A.: Tazi Design in San Francisco. Tazi sells traditional and contemporary Moroccan pieces (much of which he designs). This place ROCKS! And the owners are awesome too. Not only do they have the best selection of Moroccan furniture and accessories, but they also have a ton of amazing pieces from India and Asia as well. Plus, they will definitely give you as great deal on prices. They are pretty flexible about their prices. Ask for Ravit, she's the owner and really cool.
