We received this impressive peek inside architect Ricardo Bofill's Barcelona home and office via LoftLife — it's an abandoned cement factory that Bofill found in 1973 and has adapted to highlight the industrial past and his own unique design aesthetic.
The expansive home is ruin-like — this is only accented by the impressive gardens and plantings that surround the factories former buildings and silos. Just look at this giant raw space!
From LoftLife: Today, the factory has been successfully transformed into his personal home, as well as a multitude of offices, modeling and archival laboratories, a projection room, and a huge space known as ‘The Cathedral’, which serves as a venue for subsequent exhibitions, lectures, and concerts.
You can see more pictures at Ricardo Bofill's site and from LoftLife | Loft Tour: The Cement Factory.

I want this so bad....ooooo
WOW.
WOW x 2.
The very definition of "house porn." AMAZING.
mtv cribs visited a place very much like this some years ago, and it belonged to a spanish-speaking singer (unfortunately, that's all i can remember). i was blown away. great to be reminded of it!
youreacigarette, I recognised it as being on MTV Cribs too, but I can't remember the singer's name either. I think she is the step-daughter of the architect (I'm sure it is the same place). One of the things I remember about it that isn't shown here is that they had a (non-industrial) walk-in fridge.
BEAUTIFUL space.
but why have the furniture spaced so far apart from each other?

Because he can, Brad, because he can! LOL.
Another WOW here...kinda speechless. Amazing.
OMG! Amazing, HUGH, beautiful!!!
Holy Jeebus thats amazing.
The singer on MTV Cribs was Paulina Rubio.
sexy, sexy, sexy!
be still my heart
This is SWEEEET! I'm craving falling back into one of those pillow chairs right now...
Cool in theory, but I couldn't imagine living here. Way, way, way too big for any normal-sized family. I'd feel bad if I weren't housing a whole camp full of gypsies along with me.

it is so different from his other project, generally very linear and luxurious, like this or this….
I already thought Barcelona was the coolest city in the world, and this home seals the deal. WOW.
It does not get cold in Barcelona, does it? Because I cannot imagine how it would be possible to heat this wonderful place up, with all the cement walls (no isolated) and openings between the spaces and wonderful long windows. Aesthetically it is very cool, but practicality wise... Well..., not very eco-friendly, or is it?
i'm with unabridged. i can't see living here. renting for a huge formal event? absolutely! too much space i wouldn't use. heating it would be a bear unless you dropped the coin on radiant heat floors (solar's an option though.)
but i love everything about the pictures. the cathedral?! wow.
and the courtyard is a close second for favorite element.
I am in LOVE!
