Home theaters are just one of those things that require a little bit of convincing in order to get your way. However, if you've got music lovers in your household, you may able to pull off what Richard did - create a dually-functional space that doubles as a listening station during the day time and a full-blown home theater at night.
Along with the carefully painted walls and some of the cleanest ceiling wire control we've seen, we're even more in love with the way light creeps in behind the projector screen, making it feel more like a functional part of the home.
One of the biggest benefits of placing speakers in front of large windows is shifting the focus away from all the cable tangles you may have running into your equipment. Of course, there's plenty of ways to help control that clutter (see below), it's nice to look outside every once in a while and enjoy the view - whatever it may be.
