Name: Rigoberto (8)
Location: Brookline, MA
Our children use to share a nursery but the time came that our daughter wanted to have her own space. Our son has the smaller of the bedrooms. He really wanted a train set but did not have the space to set it up in his room. After researching twin Murphy type beds, we decided that it was more economical to buy the plans and build one ourselves.
Our son wanted a room about Space and room to build his models and electronic kits. So we designed the room to allow for his interests yet still give him floor space to play. The bed design is by Wallbed.com. The desk is four inches wide and is a secretary desk from IKEA. The wall and furniture are a custom color by Benjamin Moore.
Thanks, Evelyn! Well done!

Shaw's Original Fir...
Wonderful planning for a functional small space!
It's almost like he has his own train compartment with a sleeper! Super functional and so much fun! Does it also hold the weight of an adult? Those boys grow quickly. :)
p.s. Love, love, love the space items - the rocket and solar system.
Yes, an adult can sleep very comfortably on this twin bed. We also/have a full size one in our dining room/den/guest room. Thanks for your comment!
Awesome! I bet every little boy would LOVE a bed like that!!
And Rigoberto, such a cool name!!
It's only when you imagine that room empty that you realize what a tiny space it really is! What a great solution!!
Thanks Violet! We downsized and his original bed was a twin sleigh trundle. It consumed the entire room. We knew a vertical Murphy would not work. We really like resource furniture in NYC but the price! So we found the direction and kit online.
It's like a secret bed for his room. Great use of space!
