Name: Riley (11 months)
Location: Atlanta, GA
When we started working on our daughter Riley's nursery last summer (which was previously a guest room) my husband didn't have many opinions, but I knew what I wanted and didn't want! I wanted a room that was beautiful and colorful, and that she could grow into. I didn't want anything too "baby-ish", but of course I wanted it to be full of interesting things for a baby!
We started with the musts: painting the walls and ceiling, changing out the ceiling light and adding a closet organizer. For everything else we were on a tight budget, so we tried to re-purpose as many pieces we already had as possible, and then purchase inexpensive, but sturdy and stylish things when necessary.
The daybed, bookshelf, side table and lamp and hanging wall shelves were all previously used in other rooms in our house. The curtains and hanging panel behind the crib were also things we already had. We bought the dresser/changing table and the crib, and a few accessories. The glider and ottoman were a lucky Craigslist find. I made the mobile over the crib as well as a number of the pieces on the gallery wall and the valances above the windows.
Things have already changed a bit as she's become more mobile, but overall I think we created a really happy space for Riley to grow up!
