With baby #2 on the way we decided it was easiest to make the guest room into our 2-year-old's new room and put the baby in Riley's old nursery. I really like Scandinavian style and black and white rooms so I ran with that idea in this room. The other big influence was on of my favorite books to read Riley, "Dream Animals" by Emily Winfield Martin. This book is beautifully illustrated and the hard cover of the book has drawings of constellation animals on it that I fell in love with and used as inspiration to her constellation wall.

One of the major pieces in her room is the antique pie cooler next to her bed that was gifted from my mom who inherited it from my Grandma. I love the history of it and it is very kid friendly. Riley loves climbing up on it and taking things in and out of her cubbies. I wanted for her to have an art corner to color and draw and I used wooden clothes hangers above her Ikea table to display them. The medicine cabinet above her desk is an Etsy find that we originally got for our bathroom but it ended up being too bulky for that space so we put it in here to store her art supplies.

The large print of Half Dome was a photo taken by my husband on our latest trip to Yosemite. We blew it up as an engineering print, mounted it on MDF and painted the edges for a little pop of color. The teal chair was our biggest splurge from Cost Plus World Market and the pillows and banner over the chair are from the Laura Frisk shop on Etsy.

The closet originally had two sliding doors that were such a pain. You could only open one side at a time and it was hard to get things out or even see what was inside. We took those doors down in favor of the curtains and it was a huge improvement in not only functionality but aesthetically as well.

We love the overall feel of the room and Riley loves it too. We find ourselves spending a lot more time in there than we did in her nursery too. We think it will be a great space for her to grow in.
