Straight from our inspiration archive is a selection of crazy colorful interiors courtesy of the ever-inspiring magazine, Marie Claire Maison. We thought it was particularly relevant given that the Fall Colors Contest is looming; and we made a conscious decision to choose rooms featuring a color (or colors) that we normally shy away from just to see how it could be worth the risk...
We'll start off a little easy on the eye: This royal blue bed with its neon pink bedside tables seem to pop out of the room given the white walls. Saturated colors like this done sparingly seem really effective in making a statement without being too overbearing.
We can't decide if painting one wall an unexpected color and then arranging a lot of artwork over it diminishes the color or enhances it. We're leaning towards enhancement: The more we look at this photo, the more we find ourselves staring at the blue, rather than the artwork.
Perhaps our favorite photo yet in this collection: Instead of using the typical white or beige fabric as an under-the-sink curtain, we quite like this punch of hot pink. And we'll never say no to chartreuse...
When a friend recently chose peach as her bridesmaids' color, we all groaned inwardly. "After all, who looks good in peach?" griped one of the other bridesmaids. (She also had red hair). While peach doesn't rank very high in my personal list of favorite colors, I have to say that it looks kind pretty fun here.
Another case for using bright colors sparingly: This kitchen has a nice visual twist of a pink windowsill.
Seafoam green? Beth loves it. For me, it ranks a little higher than peach, but not by much. Still, I'm intrigued by this room: The combination of seafoam green with light pink look almost ethereal here.
What are some of your daring color choices? Or is there a color that you would love to try but your lease/roommate/husband/boyfriend/etc. won't let you?

Wow, that first photo is awesome, although I wouldn't want to spend more than a few minutes in that space!
I love bright colors. The first picture is a bit too much for me but I think the other photos are gorgeous examples of using bold colors without being too overpowering.
Just looking at #1 gave me a headache.
The dresser in #3 is beautiful!
The cabinets in #4 are awesome - they are like drawers all throughout.
The chandelier in #6 is nice too. A bit of glam in a rustic room.

agree with visual lingual. lovely, but i'd have a panic attack if locked in there.
as for personal daring color choices...I really wanted to go with a metallic violet or lilac accent wall in my dining room (yeah, i know...) with some wood furniture in a blonde finish, and cream upholstery on the chair seats, but the boyfriend wasn't feeling it, he really wanted a slate blue, which i thought was boring. we compromised and chose peacock blue. i was amazed that a straight man even knew that color! it looks vibrant, yet its not overpowering.
You realize that your inward groan about your friend's bridesmaid color choice is no longer inward once you post about it on the internet, right?
I find all of these fairly inspirational even if I don't like them all myself.
I love the first and second pictures!! The first one especially because it's so girly-girl and I'm drooling over the seating areas! But, then, if I could decorate my house like the Topkapi Saray I totally would. haha
I really want to paint the wall behind our bed khaki. The headboard is a dark wood, almost black, with two large squares of khaki-colored suede cushions. My husband hates the idea. I suggested red, but our landlord threw a fit on that one.
I adore pink, but oh my, that first picture is more pink than I can handle on a regular basis! Still, it's beautifully done.
