It all started with the framed throw my grandmother made out of little circular pieces of fabric. We love that piece- the sentimentality and the colors she kind of threw together. For my husband, he felt the color of the walls evoked a beach house vibe. I don't really see that. I really just loved the color. It went well with the orange in the adjoining guest room, which is visible through the French doors when they are open. It's a happy, bright, vibrant color, which is a far cry from the beige and grey it was before the makeover. The vibe of the room makes us happy and the color is really a huge part of that vibe.
Colors used in my room:
Turquoise, teal, chartreuse...heck, I think just about every color is in this space!
Tips for using color successfully:
Find a color that makes you happy and feel the way you want to feel. For some people, this bright turquoise might be a little too overwhelming or unsettling, but for us, it was just the right compromise. He loves blue and I love a girly vibe, so it worked. The pieces in our living room seem to go well with the color, at least to us, but they happen to just be things we love. We didn't really choose them with the color in mind. We have rearranged a little since we took these photos...all the pieces in our home kind of transition from one room to another easily, but I think that's just because we like them so much. I mean, we picked them together since we have been married and just that is kind of special for us.
