Name: Rivers (1 month)
Location: Goshen, Indiana
We chose to not find out what our baby was going to be, so from the beginning I knew I would be designing a gender neutral nursery. I wanted to incorporate a lot of color and mix new and vintage pieces to match the rest of our 1890s home. I wanted to create a fun and playful nursery that would work for either gender and now that we have a son I think the nursery is perfect for him!
Many elements are handmade by my husband and myself as well as family and friends. Each of the guests at my baby shower brought a letter to complete Rivers's alphabet wall. The dresser is an Ikea dresser that my husband and I painted. I made the bird mobile that hangs above the crib. A family friend made the rocker and child's rocker. I love that there is so much love included in so many of the objects in Rivers's nursery.

I've seen that Urban Outfitters rug everywhere. Does anyone know how it does in a kitchen?
I love everything about this room! River is a lucky little man :)
I love the result, it is so different to the nursery room I am used to see. Well done. My only advice is to watch out the carpet, it looks so light and slippery. Some 3M tape could help.
The whole room is nice. I love the bookshelf and the idea of the ABC wall!
Absolutely beautiful! Wall color, bookshelf color, mobile --- gorgeous! I really love this room.
I don't see the big bird lamp --- what am I missing?
Wow! this is my favorite nursery of all time. :)
Big bird lamp is visible in the first picture, on the shelving unit.
That rug is really jolly and brightens the space up, but the big creases look like somebody could trip over them. Maybe spritz it with some water to relax the folds, and put it outside in the sun?
Love the wall color!
The dresser with the nursery rhyme is very creative!
So sweet! I love that the letters for the wall were all shower gifts -- how perfect!
I NEED to know how to make the bird mobile! My brother is having his first baby in February and he loves birds. The mobile is adorable and would be such a fun gift to make/give!
lexinchicago: I made the same bird mobile, and my 2.5 y.o. still loves it. I've also made a few as great gifts. Find the free pattern here: http://www.spoolsewing.com/blog/2008/05/16/bird-mobile/
i love it! Rivers is a lucky baby. I love incorporating childhood elements into your child's nursery. I still have a couple of toys from when I was a baby.
@Pi - I have it in my kitchen and I like it because you can throw it in the washing machine if you spill anything on it. It's thin, though, so make sure you have a rug mat.
