Name: RJ & Francis
Location: Los Angeles, California
Modern, masculine and classical are a few words to describe our 1060 sq.ft. open floor plan loft in the heart of downtown LA's art district. The Classical architecture of metropolitan LA peering through our hugely expansive windows becomes the perfect starting point to base our interior aesthetic.
We both are in love with the resurgence of this very walkable city life in the middle of such a car-driven (pardon the pun) society. As much as we depend on our cars to get us from point A to point B, the option to walk down the street to run errands or grab a bite at a restaurant is what attracted us to downtown LA and a space like ours.
We each love our own individual spaces but sometimes they can be hard to achieve especially with an open floor plan. The key is to compartmentalize your space into separate areas defined by furniture pieces and by completing them with accessories. In our loft, we were able to create 6 different areas: 1) kitchen/dining, 2) living, 3) office and storage, 4) bedroom, 5) entrance foyer and 6) sitting area.
We are such the hosts -we hold a gathering once a week it seems. So we like to keep our space presentable and welcoming all the time! There isn't an instance when you won't see a guest of ours without a glass of wine in hand. =)
Thanks RJ and Francis!

This is very comfortable! Though...doesn't it get annoying rolling your chair back and hitting the rug edge every time? And having something above your head while you're asleep? That little fridge is great - is that the Whirlpool/Ikea fridge? Has anyone had experience with its quality?
Very well done! I love all the textures and the pillows on the bed. I'd love to come over for wine and conversation to a place like this!
Like the lacquer red storage!
Lovely, especially the subtle mixing of styles and textures!
Is the wall art in the bedroom... packing material? I unpack a lot of computer equipment, and I'm having a very strong visual association. :)
The reflection in the red cabinet is lovely, but it would have been better to see more of the apartment instead...
I agree @saucefiend! There is so much of the apartment we'd love to show! Thanks for the comment. =)
Thanks for the comment @PI! The good thing about our desk chair is that when we pull it out from under the desk, the rug keeps it stable. Francis hasn't hit his head, just yet, from the light fixture above the bed *crossing fingers. And the little fridge is actually our additional storage pantry for more kitchen items. It's a great little space! =)
What is the name of that app for the clock screen saver on the Mac. I keep seeing it! And need this for my comp! Please let me know. Thanks! :)
@miamoe15 It's called Fliqlo
you have to be careful with art over beds in LA due to earthquakes. i'm guessing that it's something soft. Lovely space in a great area!
I agree @avance! The artwork at the head of the bed is actually packaging from our tv mount. I couldn't bare to let go of it because of the geometry and design! Thanks!
Where did you get all the chairs for the dining table? I think I recognize the stools from CB2?
Can someone Tell me something about the lamp over the kitchen table?
