Name: Rob & Matthew
Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
We have lived in our house for the past 3 years. Its tucked into a very quiet neighborhood in Minneapolis on the northeast side of Lake Nokomis. We knew within a minute of entering this modest 1200sq ft 1933 Tudor that we wanted it. It had a beautiful original fireplace and a front staircase that is very unusual for this basic bungalow style floor plan.
One problem we did face upon moving in was that every room was painted a different bright color. By neutralizing all the color with earth tones, the rooms seem bigger and flow freely into one another making the space seem bigger.
Our personal style is a mix. I love a collected look and items with a history. We have lots of mid-century pieces, furniture from grandparents, as well as antiques. Our dining table is a great junk find. Mixed with chairs my grandmother got from her mother as a wedding gift, the table was $25 from the Salvation Army. Its amazing what a little high gloss paint and some casters can do for a cast off piece. It's one of my favorite possessions.
