Like any other item that has outlasted its usefulness, clothing is discarded. Sometimes it is donated and then sent overseas, sometimes it ends up in landfill. What about recycling? Last January, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art decided to cull its costume and textile collection. Artist Robert Fontenot purchased over 50 of these items at auction and, for the last year, has been finding new ways to use them...

Dresses turn into witches hats, a skirt from Korea becomes a dog bed, a lace dress becomes the screen for a door (we love this!), an embroidered linen textile becomes a wastebasket.
