In a small space, it's important that furniture has multiple uses. The Robot 619 Chest, designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta functions as sleek tower of drawers and a small writing desk. In addition to it's tiny footprint (literally! - they look like feet), Robot's overlapping wooden drawers and steel support structure reminds us of the Sapien Book Towers...

This would be great in a workspace, functioning as storage and a desk when needed. The Robot 19 was designed in 1989 but it one of the new offerings from UK retailer Nest. Manufactured by Alias, the chest comes in natural pearwood or painted black. The chest is 35 cm square and has a height of 121 cm (waist-high).

So you're writing on the fold-out portion of the desk when, oops, too much weight from pressing down on that pen, the desk tips (hopefully doesn't fall altogether), and the drawers extend to their maximum dumping their contents and smash against your shins. Desks require balance--I might be mistaken but this 'desk' doesn't look very sturdy.
wow, the chest would be fantastic for all my art supplies and drawing pens, etc.
Doesn't look that tippy to me. And rather like it, though I don't think it's a workhorse for a home office. more like a desk for a quite note or letter in a (guest) bedroom.
uhh... but not at $5,000. Don't tease me AT!
To me they look like those Ikea drawers. Stack a whole bunch up, add some feet and some drawer pulls, there you go!
From the looks of the last one, maybe even nice fat eye hooks instead of knobs...
