- What I Love About My Small Home:
- My studio apartment is an extension of myself and a reflection of who I am so it is filled with little details here and there that just make me smile. It's a happy, bright, and pretty little dwelling that I'm quite proud of.
- Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
- When I first moved into my studio apartment it also doubled as my work space and storage for my online vintage shop. I moved from a 1900 sq ft apartment to a studio, so I needed to be able to live/work all the while dealing with major downsizing. One of the reasons I chose this apartment above any others was the plentiful storage space the studio offered, but even then, it wasn't enough. (My kitchen cupboards were all filled with vintage bags and accessories!) I finally just dove in and rented out another studio for all my vintage stock so now live/work are separate, but I still do have vintage dresses hanging here and there.

I loved your place during HT!! Good luck!!
You deserve to win. Hands down.
Hi Rodelee :) Nice to see that you entered !
As much as I like Rodellee's apartment, I don't think it's fair to the other contestants that her home was already featured in a House Tour. We all can search AT and see all the other pictures... she has an unfair advantage, IHMO.
I'm wondering where that animal art came from in your kitchen? Under the flag? I love it! Fox? Dog? Fraktur?
Sweet place. I have your dish drainer. Your utensil catcher is way cuter than the original! ;)
Your kitchen is so sweet!
Actually, I've seen this apt. featured in many blogs, including AT and several times at that. The popularity is no surprise, because it IS lovely...Not sure if there's an advantage, but I'm just putting it out there.
One thing that bugs me a little is, the photos are the same as from the house tour last year--at least take new photos...?
@RIZKMICHELLE
Nothing against this inventive space but I agree with the statement, "I don't think it's fair to the other contestants that her home was already featured in a House Tour."
By the same token, I also have an issue with the lack of distinction between spaces that have been merely decorated and those that enjoy major construction or renovation. In two of the spaces in this competition, we are dazzled by spaces that would look pretty good empty of all furniture and accessories. Yet we are supposed to evaluate them at the same time we're looking at rentals where people aren't even allowed to paint. A division is made between tiny and small, as well as American and international. Why not between decor and architecture?
I don't think prior entries or former House Tours have an unfair advantage. Are people never supposed to share their homes on blogs or online just in case they enter in this contest?
Rodellee, you did a great job. Good Luck!
@Jukesgrrl: I agree - there is a huge discrepancy that is not accounted for in the categories. As for rentals, it seems like the competition often boils down to who has the coolest 'stuff', and staging.
This is beautiful. I still love that settee...
I agree with Jukesgrrl. My flat is entered in the international division, where as a restricted renter of a 390 sq ft flat, Im up against 700sq ft owned and renovated spaces. I would like to think that people take that into account when voting, but who knows. To be fair, I knew that when I submitted, but I agree, they should possible differentiate between the huge projects and the rented spaces and for the love of GOD AT, can we please have sq footage categories in international??
I take size into account, for sure. In fact, I don't vote for apartments over ~600 feet because I don't consider that small (unless, maybe, I knew there was a family of four living in that space). I live in a 330 sq ft apartment and I'm only really impressed with spaces that are around my size or smaller.
I'm so in love with your settee!
I've been reading all of these comments and while they are all justified, and I agree with all of you with the exception of one or two (I'll call you guys out later) but these comments should all be directed towards the AT people. THEY are the one who make the selection. THEY are the ones that created this contest. Obviously people have expectations and requests but THEY aren't making it so that we can openly discuss this.
A-KANGAROO-LOOSE, I'm surprised your comment is still up! Not that I would take it down, because I am a firm believer in freedom of speech and I truly appreciate you expressing your feelings. But I don't believe Rodelle was lazy. I've seen aspects of her place before on other AT posts, but never the entire place. SO for some, this is a firt time, and I like what I see. I usually don't waste time reading what they write (no offense) I just like to look at the space, and read the comments. Had I seen this house tour before and then again this I would too demand new pictures, but again thats up the powers that be at AT. I'm sure this comment would get deleted since they are "watching me" but it's not negative so I don't see why.
Rodelle regardless of new pictures I love your place! You've got my vote!
after I favorited it the number decreased!
@ Thelady This just happened to me as well. Why are the #s going down when you favorite?
Yes, I want that settee!!
I LOVVVVE this apartment, I want it! Loving your style, as always Rodelee. It's just beautiful. Hope you win xxxx
The plexiglass center table makes the small space seemingly larger showcasing the zebra rug below.- clever!
love the book pile in the bedroom and the chalkboard back splash in the kitchen. both clever, fun and inexpensive elements that add interest.
Beautiful!
