Former Rolling Stone Art Director and current publishing consultant Roger Black lives in a Gramercy Park apartment in New York City. About once a month, he makes the 9-hour journey to his 3,000 acre ranch in West Texas. Named "Cinco Camp" — after the five shipping containers that form his second home — the place is about as different from New York City as one could imagine...
The shipping containers remain largely untouched and each of the five has a different purpose — eating, cooking, sleeping, storage. The Midland, Texas architect who designed the home, Mark Wellen, put the grouping on short stilts to discourage "snakes and vermin"

Not making any social commentary (truly!) but I love-love-love this line from the article:

That line is perfection, it has punch...especially at the end of a paragraph. The house, I could live without.
love the concept, but rattlesnakes, and out in the middle of 3000 acres, no wonder the ex and the ex fled.
I love it and I love the location (even if it is about 110 in the shade right now--if you can find shade) and I would LOVE to be a guest there!

I’m a composer and was lucky enough to spend a month at the ranch in question writing music (just for the record, I lived in Manhattan for over thirty years – so I’m not an official cowboy). It’s astounding to me that certain pin-heads on this forum are so narrow minded as to make some of the comments seen above. This place is sublime. The structures are a work of art. The vistas – night and day – are truly awe-inspiring. If you can’t deal with a lack of trendy chain coffee stores within pudgy walking distance, by all means stay away. For the rest of you – check out the pictures and glimpse a certain paradise…
