- I work at the desk in my bedroom sometimes, so I wanted a palette that would be energetic and inspiring... And I've been trying to work in fuchsia and mustard palette for years!
- Colors used in my room
- Warm french gray on the walls... Lots of bright pink and fuchsia accents and a touch of turquoise and mustard...
- Tips for using color successfully
- Be fearless. Some of the most interesting rooms require a second look to really "get" them.

Room for Color
This is crazy but in a good way. It's fun and bright and airy. Can someone explain why people are obsessed with Audrey Hepburn? I'll never understand posters and framed pictures of her in people's homes.
I only wish in London I could
My dream bedroom! As a member of this contest I have to say you are the third one I have favorited. This IS the best bedroom and one of the best use of color in the contest. Great job!
Tell me where the bench is from? I love it!
Great room!
Gorgeous! I am soooo not a hot pink person, but I just love this!
Gorgeous!!! Love it!
Can you tell me the name and brand of the paint used for the walls? Thanks1
Fun!! Love the mix of elements -- especially the headboard! Where did you get the headboard?
This is really fun.. I'd love to see a house tour!
I've been a lurker forever and registered JUST to find out about that headboard. It's GORGEOUS. Anyone know where it's from?
I am SO in love with your room!
AT please, please, PLEASE do a house tour of this place. If just the one room looks this awesome, I can't even imagine how amazing the rest looks!!
Thanks so much!
Here's a link to the house tour from a few months back...

Got my vote! The headboard is to die!
Alright. I just have to say this and then I won't stalk the comments anymore... The headboard was this really ugly resin, faux crackle finish looking piece from the early 80's. I got it on craigslist for $20 and painted it in a matte (not glossy!) white primer. It almost looks like it's flocked up close. Thanks for all the likes!
I would also like the name and brand of the paint used for the walls. You've done a tremendous job and I admire your bravery with the use of the hot pink!! Such an inspiration!
I'm with Charisse. And this is how to do a gallery wall!
This is the first real "Wow!" I've seen in this contest this year.
In my opinion, contest over, this room wins hands down! Love it!!!!!!!
Lovely! I wish this was a house tour.
I'd like to see a house tour too
For years I borrowed a vacuum cleaner when needed. Fortunately, I don't vacuum very often, so it wasn't all that onerous.
Come back to the comments! Where did you get that brass/turquoise light fixture??
Wow! This room is so not my style, but it's very well done!
Not my style, but definitely full of color and personality. I liked that it doesn't look too design-y.
This totally caught my eye. Gorgeous. Is that a huge Spin Art above your bed??
Ditto, jbnyc: is that a Spin Art? Where did that come from? Did you do it yourself?
Ok... Can't. Not. Answer. Questions...!
The ceiling fixture is from Cost Plus World Market. The Duvet Cover is from Target, dyed pink with iDye. The totally awesome spin art is from www.onedaygallery.com but Daimien Hirst has some ok looking ones too. ;-). The low drawer units are Besta a la IKEA. Most of the gallery wall art is by me. The house tour is here:

Thanks again for all the positive feedback!
Wild! I like it!
Love it but I'd have major allergy/dust problems with the books stacked on the floor. For some reason the floor and walls calm the bright colors! It's fantastic!
I forgot the walls. The walls were painted that color when I moved in... the decor was in response to the walls, since I wasn't able to repaint. I found the bench sitting by the curb in Studio City when I lived in L.A. a few years back. I'm glad that mustard has gotten so hot lately...
I saw this in a post not too long ago. I looooved it then and I loooooved it still!!!
I love your light fixture above the bed!
I love this bedroom. Everything about it is fabulous and I've picked up some idea's for my own room. My entry is in the International Category. Our tastes are similar I think :)
Bravo!!
I love your room! I want to sea all the house
From one designer to another, HATS OFF! Much respect and admiration for this beautiful space you've created. So full of life!
Love your use of color, sadly I wish I had an ounce of your courage! Awesome bedroom & I think it's time my bedroom received some much needed attention. Good luck!
Loooove this!!!! Very inspiring. Your bedroom is especially awesome.
"everything is shit"
Did no one else see that?
So much awesome in one room!
So colorful and fun! A great example of how pink doesn't have to look like a little girl's room...bold!
Wow - if someone told me they had a grayish room, and were going for accents in hot pink and mustard, I would think they were color blind or crazy. But it works. It's bold.
I get that you can't paint, and that limited your options, but it may have forced a little restraint.
Love, love.
The only thing I would change is to get the books off the floor under the bench. I don't love that.
Fearless. Funky. Feminine. I adore this room.
Amazing! This is so eclectic and completely well coordinated at the same time! I love that you've used the bright colors in the bedroom - pink with yellow is a fav combo of mine. Love the assortment of frames on the gallery wall too!
Yes! I love therainbow "Everything Is Shit" print too. Did Rohde make that too? Is it for sale somewhere?

No, I didn't do the "Everything..." poster...well, that is to say, I can't take credit for it. It's from an awesome graffiti artist named Steve Powers (or ESPO). I tried to find it everywhere, but prints of it were always sold out (he sells them here: http://firstandfifteenth.bigcartel.com/). So I just painted my own. It's not as cool as having the real thing, but it works.
Ahhhh...I remember this house tour. FAVORITE! Would be hard to leave this room.
P.S. Can't wait for new season of Million Dollar Decorators...Maaaartyn ;}
I know you are good sport. But you won this hands down. Regardless of the suspect votes. And that is not just my opinion. Had you made it to the finalist you would have sweeped it!
Thanks Charisse! I personally thought that Franco's room (third place, I think) should have won it. That place was crazy awesome! Oh well. I'll keep my other thoughts on the subject to myself. Man, I gotta get a blog started! ;-)
About the blog...so true!
I can't believe this entry didn't win! This room is amazing and possibly my favorite room on AT ever. Can you please come design my house? :)
I'm so sorry you didn't win. You definitely had the best room in your division, maybe even the whole competition. It would have made the finals a lot more interesting if your room had won. Get your blog up and running so that we can see some more fabulous designs.
Hey, I'm always taking new clients these days! ;-)
I'm with Charrise and Suzanne (Britabroad) on all counts!! You and your room rock!! I agree with you about Franco's too :)
I am bookmarking your site right now . . . seriously, I am in awe!
I absolutely love, love the spin art!!! Did you add the fabric backing? The is beautiful!
Nope, it's painted on the canvas itself.
