If there's one thing we love about the Roku box, it's their inability to keep their firmware static for a long period of time. This time around, we see a festive update in social networking (sorta like the Playstation 3's last firmware update), with Flickr and Pandora just being a small sliver of the pie in your new channel lineup available soon at your Roku Channel Store.
For those of you who don't know Roku, they make a small wireless box that streams content from the Web directly to any TV screen.
With this latest update, Roku expands their channels from a measly 3 to a more beefy 13 (and we hope there's more to come). Channels include: Blip.tv, Facebook Photos, Flickr, FrameChannel, Mediafly, MobileTribe, Motionbox, Pandora, Revision3, and TWiT, and will join the current lineup of Netflix, Amazon Video On Demand, and MLB.TV. We especially dig the idea of channels since it's an interface we're all familiar with and it does make a whole lot of sense when you really think about it.
All of these channels will be available at the Roku Channel Store sometime between now and January, and, like always, it's free.
