Name: Roman (8) & Callum (6)
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Color Inspiration: The inspiration for this room came from the boys' favorite colors of red and blue. My husband & I are originally from England and wanted to incorporate the boy's heritage into their room. Hence the "cool britannia" vibe.
Color Inspiration continued: Fortunately, the British flag, along with the other British memorabilia, blend in nicely with all of the other decor choices. I would say that the room is colorful without being too distracting, so they can still get a good nights sleep. We painted the beds grey to match the large armoire that has been in the room since it was a nursery. The walls are also a light grey with a chalk board accent wall. The colors are all echoed in the floor rug.
Tip for Using Color: With children's rooms be bold and be bright; take chances & experiment. Then when they bring in new toys, they won't stick out like a sore thumb.
Colors Used: Red, blue, grey, white.
Thanks for your colorful entry Suzanne and good luck!

Love the way books are displayed in this room. Great colors too!
I love the room, so unique and very cool. My husband, 3 children, and I will be moving to Salt Lake City Utah this spring, do you have any advice or thoughts on living in Salt Lake City?

oh I love it!
Ashley, thanks for the positive feedback. We emigrated to Salt Lake City in 1994 from a very cool city in England. I have no regrets about moving to SLC. It is truly a beautiful, fun, friendly & easy place to live. We have so many friends that also moved here from other cool places like Boston & California, and truly this is the place they want to be. Plus we have the best seasonal weather anywhere! And it's definitely more liberal than people think, if you get what I mean.
Suzanne, I think we need to be friends. I *love* Britain (lived in London for 6 months) and miss it every day. Can I come visit you and soak up your coolness?
Ashley, SLC is an awesome place to live. There's SO much fun stuff for the kiddos to do, and so much is family friendly. I highly recommend the Gateway Discovery Museum (though it can be pricey), Thanksgiving Point, and Hogle Zoo for fun activities, the latter two are best to visit in the springtime though. I don't know if you or your kids are interested in music, but we have a GREAT little business that offers Music Together and Musical Bridge classes for kiddos and parents - the store is called Imagination Place and they also offer antigravity yoga which is amazing!
Feel free to email me if you want more specifics on Utah stuff. I have family all over the state and have lived in the Salt Lake valley for the last 3 years, so I'm pretty familiar with everything here :-)
Oh duh - my email is krisis86 at gmail dot com
I love that clip lamp! Where can I find one?
It's from PBteen.com and comes in a bunch of different colours. It's great for the boys to read in bed.
I have NEVER seen a kids' room like this before. Totally fun, totally youthful yet styled to the NINES. LOVE it.
Thanks Pamela. I designed this room with two very rambunctious boys in mind. Its previous incarnation as a nursery was very different, all vintage and muted colours. Just as children grow and change, I think that their room should also. If I had girls, it would be a totally different looking room!
i like the book shelvls where did you get them?
The large white book shelf is from Pottery Barn Teen. The red shelves are from Pottery Barn Kids. The blue book shelf is from The Land of Nod.
I love this room! What is the paint color on the walls?
Thanks AmandaN, the colour is Benjamin Moore's Feather Grey in Eggshell. The chalkboard paint is by rust-oleum Moonstone.
