Room Dividers at the Aman Hotel

Beijing, China

Reading through Condé Nast's guide to the best hotels of 2010, we discovered the Aman Hotel in Beijing, next door to the Summer Palace. The decor there is incredible—especially the carved screens, which act as space dividers in the bedrooms, bathrooms, and sitting areas.

The hotel is inspired by Ming Dynasty style, which favored an uncluttered look and furnishings of exceptional quality. Wedding beds, which are traditionally used as multipurpose rooms within rooms, form the heart of many of the Aman's suites. Screens are also used to section off the bathtub (a look we love), decorate the walls, and subdivide desks from a larger space.

The Aman Hotel is an international resort chain. (We previously blogged the Aman-i-Khas in India.) The hotel at Summer Palace is their first in China and was built within a series of traditional dwellings.
