Color Inspiration: First off, I LOVE a good, moody bedroom! A bedroom with bold color that wraps you up and makes you want to get cozy! I was inspired by the gorgeous use of gray found in current design magazines, but since we live in the rainy Pacific Northwest, I didn't want...

Color Inspiration continued: ...to use a gray that would just mimic the color outside the window. I opted for "Templeton Gray" by Benjamin Moore which is much further on the blue/green side of the gray scale. My husband was skeptical when I started painting, but he'll be the first one to tell you that taking the risk was worth it. It is an intense color, but the way that the light plays off the walls makes it come alive. We couldn't be happier with how it turned out!
Colors Used: Templeton Gray - Benjamin Moore #HC-161
Contemplation - Behr #700E-3
Powdered Snow - Behr #W-D-700
Color Tip: Take the time to find the right color for your room! Bring lots of swatches home from the paint store, tape them on your walls and live with them for a few days. See how the sunrise and sunset change the colors. Narrow it down to the color that you love and don't be afraid to go for it! You have to live there, so why not love the rooms you live in? Paint will give you the biggest bang for your buck, so have some fun with it!

I like how you broke up the wall color with the curtains behind the bed! Never understood the appeal of a tv in the bedroom, though.
yeah! you get my thumbs up! i wish i could give you two - one for your gorge room and another for being from TACOMA! woot woot hometown!
Beautiful blue with those warm browns, and I love that you have unique accessories.
great colors!! well done, my dear!
Absolutely fabulous! Can't wait until my bedroom is as beautiful as yours! Ü
I thought I was looking at a picture of a home decorating magazine. I had NO IDEA that was Karla's inspiration. All the best!

A big thumbs up Karla. Great room, great blog too.
Karla, you cease to amaze me what you can create by just rearranging furniture and items. You really have talent. Your bedroom is brilliant. I love how the drapes give the illusion of your room being bigger. My vote is definitely for your bedroom
Karla, I have been following your blog since you started and I look everyday to see what creations you come up with. Not only are you creative but your photography presentations are so well thought out. I feel fortunate to get to see your creations first hand as well. You are inspiring.
Nice room/colors... and even nicer to see someone else from Tacoma on here!
I'm stunned. It's just so beautiful, warm, inviting, unique, yet dramatic in a wonderful way! Exquisite! You deserve this win!

Gorgeous. I think this is my favorite so far!
LOVE IT! And I love how you are always transforming your house. Keep the great ideas coming!
You just got my thumbs up too !
Is the artwork above your bed a diy ? If it is, I'd be very interested to know how you did it. It's gorgeous and would look beautiful in our bedroom.
I also love that you consider the weather outside. I live in the north of France, near Belgium, and the light is just not your bright light from Provence, so I have to adapt. The general feeling is much more gloomy in rainy days, and in sunny ones, the light is more gentle and subtle. It's very hard to choose colors. Thank you for giving me ideas !
Love that blue! It's just the right kind of blue too....it doesn't feel cold to me. Love the curtains/drapes on either side of the bed. It really warms up the space!
LOVE!
One of my favorites! Nice color scheme and some cool decor ideas also. Well done!

Great colors, Karla. I love the way you utilized varying textures. (By the way, I came upon your colors via Bethany.)
I think I've found my dream room.
Hope you win!
The framed branch is stunning! I never would think to combine blue with reddish-brown accents and weathered gray branches, but it's absolutely beautiful.
The BEST room...hands down. You are amazing and a true inspiration.
I LOVE Karla's color scheme here....just perfect!
Lovely! What is Karla's blog address?

Wow its a beautiful room! Actually I like the idea of the tv in the room, sometimes your only escape might be to watch some tv away from everyone else, why not do it in a beautiful space ta' boot.
Just beautiful...love the blue with the dark wood in the room. I could definitely nap in that room!
this is a great room! i love it!
Two thumbs WAY up :)
Love the color!
Good luck!
Beautiful, Karla!!
This is so beautiful!! Great work.
Gorgeous!! LOVE this room and the bold use of color!!
Wow what talent. That is so beautiful Karla. Come and decorate my bedroom,PLEASE!. Looks like one of the rooms you see at a spa resort. My vote is for Karla
I see that Karla has gotten her friends to vote and leave comments.
Not to be snarky but this room is not that good - mediocre at best. Other than the piece above the bed, I really don't see anything unique about this room. There are so many other bedrooms on AT that blow this out of the water.
Good for you to get your network to vote for you but c'mon people, be fair. At least vote and leave comments for the others.
This is so beautiful! GREAT job! :)
Thanks,
~Shelby
Thanks for voting and commenting, everyone! I don't recognize most of your names, but thanks so much for your support!
Just to clear up any confusion about using your network to get votes, this comes straight from the email that we received from Apartment Therapy after submitting our room for the competition:
.................................................................
"Once posted, feel free to send the link to your post around to friends and family. Their comments and votes can all play an important part in this contest."
.................................................................
And in another email from an Apartment Therapy staffer once our entry became part of the competition:
.................................................................
"We encourage you to spread the word and ask friends, family and coworkers to "Thumbs Up" your home to help push your entry to the next round."
.................................................................
Hope that helps!
And thanks again for all of your votes!

I LOVE the blue on the walls. This gets my vote.
This is a really nice room, in my very favorite color palette. Nice job!
I love this room. I love your entire house. You've got my vote!
Thank you for showing me I don't have to be afraid of colors in the "grey" family. As a native of our often dreary-overcast skied northwest I tend to RUN from colors that remotely mimic the dull-drums of our sky, looking for something that will cheer me up 9 months out of the year. This is an ideal color palette to embrace and redifne our northwest reputation!--- BTW, your Blog is the perfect place to be inspired... even if you are the most common homeowner who feels they lack natural decorating talent! Thanks again!
I absolutely love this room, colors are so pleasing to the eye and the spirit!
Richly peaceful and so warm. Love the treatment of this room!
Beautiful, very unique.
I hope that's not a fake plant....
With that big window, you could find an indoor plant that could look really nice.
love the color and everything!
. . . except the tv. way to kill the mood.
but seriously, nice work.
This room is stunning! I have the same color in my living room and I can't help but smile every time I enter that space because it is so warm. You did a phenomenal job!
I thought people in this contest weren't supposed to post links? Karla clearly has by putting her blog as her user name. This entry should be disqualified.
Love this room so much!!
I would love to have this room!!
i love tonal colour schemes, probably because my design tutor at college stopped me from going mad with colour. personally id be a bit put off by a blue colour scheme as it could look cold in a bedroom, the reddy browns here help to warm it up. good work!
