Name: Larissa
Location: Wheaton, Illinois
Type of Home: Rental Apartment
Color Inspiration: We wanted our sterile, "contractor white" rental to feel warmer and remind us of our favorite things. We chose colors that bring to mind water, sunsets, and woods, patterns on the wall and furniture that are also botanically inspired.

Wow, amazing job on that wall ... and I love your dining set.
It's taking all my effort to resist jumping into that picture and tearing out that hideous carpet. You manage to make a very tough place look interesting and livable. I like it.
killer wall treatment
Love it!
I don't normally go for a wall being painted that way, but I am loving this version.
The wall treatment definitely gives the place a sense of movement. I think you accomplished your goal of an aquatic feeling as well without being to literal.
Hey!! Greetings from Glen Ellyn!! Stunning place, especially out here in the wilds of Suburbia -- how did you do the fantastic paint effect? Stencils or what? Would love to copy you in my GE ranch house.
It's a great color. I also like that the curves of your kitchen and living room chairs compliment the curves in your wall pattern. And I love the big vase your plant is in -- beautiful colors!
Gorgeous!
Nice color and all... but.... isn't this "staging thing" going a bit too far..... What the hell is that plant doing up there????
LARISSA-
I love the pattern on your wall, and would love to copy it in my hallway (I promise I'll give you credit if anyone asks). Did you use a stencil?
I actually drew out the stencil on tagboard and spent 5 very annoying hours trying to hold it in the right shape when it started to warp from the paint. Definitely use acetate or mylar...now I know for the future. Check out my blog for more examples of my decorative painting and details. Just finished a cool plaid wall in our entryway.

Love it!
(And not just because I graduated form Wheaton North HS.)
Beautiful!! I have that same black and white ikea fabric... I just reupholstered a stool with it. I was wondering what it would look like on a chair, so thanks for showing me :) Nice job!
LOVE the patterned wall! Thanks for the tip about using mylar/acetate for a stencil. I'm in the process of creating a stencil and was considering just using chipboard. Now I know! :)
Lovely....
Larissa and Family,
Love the cheerfulness and clean look! Your taste makes one want to head to the beach! DebraAnnabelle
Go Larissa!
This is fantastic!
You definitely took lemons and made lemonade!! Excellent!!
