Decor Tips for Sharing the Master Bedroom with Baby

Pinterest is filled with images of nurseries that new parents are proud to show off. There is another type of nursery that new parents who are tight on space may be more familiar with - the corner nursery. Here are a few decor tips for sharing your bedroom with the baby.

The corner nursery nook is popping up in cities such as London and New York where parents might be avoiding upsizing until absolutely necessary and mothers are less than thrilled to move while pregnant too. Having a baby in the bedroom doesn't mean that you have to sacrifice style and sanity. In fact, many mothers claim that they sleep better having the baby in their room instead of relying on a baby monitor.

Here are a few important things to consider if you are planning on putting baby in the corner whether you are a first time parent or it is baby number four.

Space Plan: Create a distinct space for the baby and an area for you and your partner. Even if you aren't using a physical room divider there should be a division of baby related items and your personal items.

Furniture Choices:  The traditional nursery suite of furniture isn't as necessary as baby companies will have you believe. If you are sharing your room due to a lack of space, you can put the traditional rocking or nursing chair in the living room or use something that you already own in the living room. The changing table is also a hefty investment that doesn't last long and a regular low dresser can be substituted by simply placing a changing pad on top.

Decorate the Nook: This step will really make the baby space feel like its own and this could be anything from a wall decal to painting an accent wall in the nursery corner.
