Again with the knock-offs! Seriously AT, I'm losing respect for you guys and fast. Knock-offs are horrible for lots and lots of reasons - from stifling new design, to hurting the American economy. That a big site like AT continues to post and legitimize them is a real disappointment, especially when so many of your big sponsors sell the authentic pieces.
Second that, Modfan. I'm fine with 'inspiration' pieces, but these are BLATANT. Quite sad.
I have a certified Eames stool sitting in my living room and the shape is EXACTLY like the blue one pictured above. (Not saying that to be snobby or anything, just that having one and seeing these copies irks me to no end.) It pisses me off when companies steal in an attempt at blatant copying. Isn't there some sort of trademark infringement? It's not "inspired by" it's "Xerox-ed by".
I wonder what third world country these are made in - and what's in the paint?

I will buy the original if you spot me the $600 difference. In my opinion, Herman Miller, Knoll, and others are ASS RAPING their customers. Within the last five years, HM has jacked the price of their products up by at least 25%. Every time I have an interest in purchasing an “iconic†piece, I notice that the price has gone up another couple hundred dollars since the last time I checked. Reproductions may seem unethical, but it’s hard for me to sympathize with companies guilty of such egregious price gouging; a plywood chair is not the Mona Lisa, and annual price hikes only perpetuate the problem of crappy reproductions.
