Scenario 1: you've got relatives from near and far coming to Los Angeles for the holidays but your apartment runs on the "cozy small" side. Scenario 2: you're traveling to city X to visit friends or family but can't find a place to your liking for an extended stay. What to do? Roomorama might be worth checking out in either case.
Our friend Adele turned us onto Roomorama awhile ago when we were visiting New York, noting the site offers short term rentals in desirable hoods in metropolitan destinations such as Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, London, Paris, Barcelona and Hemet. Okay, not Hemet, but several other large cities where you can hunt down a room, apartment or house to rent 1 to 60 nights (or post your own space to rent for $0). The site operates by charging a booking fee (which includes all credit card processing fees etc): 12% for stays of 1-30 nights, and 8% for stays of 30-60 nights.
The rooms range from modest to glamorous, depending upon location and your budget. But this may be a great option for the next few weeks when people are coming and going all around and a place to stay nearby is a concern. Or in some cases, when you've got relatives you love, but don't love having over for extended periods of time in your own home. You know who we're talking about ;)
