Did this morning's light showers catch you off guard as much as it did to me? Los Angeles is technically a Mediterranean climate region (not a desert like many assume), so we do get our fair share of rain. We just make a whole lot of drama about it compared to other cities when we actually deviate a little from 78+ degree sunshine. Remember, there's a lot of actors in this town, so the drama comes with the territory. Anyhow, here's a list of our favourite umbrellas out there for those rainy days...

A desert technically receives less than 10" of rain a year, if it is mostly in the winter, a place can be both a desert and a Mediterranean climate. Mediterranean climate has no specific rainfall parameters - just a time frame when it mostly rains.
LA is designated as a Mediterranean climate or Dry-Summer Subtropical zone according to the Köppen climate classification; I just wanted to clarify the misconception that LA is a desert city, when it better fits the profile of "moderate temperatures and changeable, rainy weather".
I had a rainbow umbrella and it always brightened my rainy days.
up here in Santa Barbara we got hail!
This post makes me want to move from Las Vegas althogether -- just for the umbrellas.
I don't own a single one.
I think this is the first entry I have ever read on AT where someone writes (albeit briefly) in the first person. That is nice to see because sometimes the "we" seems a bit out of place.
