Roundbox: A New Type of Computer For Kids

Choosing when and how to introduce technology to your kids is a personal decision. Because of the importance and influence of technology on our lives we tend to side towards introducing it earlier as opposed to later. You want your children to be tech savvy, but how do you introduce them to tech? Through your laptop or through a device built specifically for their exploration?

Roundbox is a new concept in portable computers built for kids. Aimed at the 5-14 age group, this device is a computer, digital camera, video game console, TV, and DVD player all rolled into one rugged package. Roundbox also has an art mode which allows the user to draw on the device using the provided pen.

We like that since the device is built for kids, it can withstand a drop or two, which is particularly important when it's being lugged around by a 5 year old. We think that this can be a fun device, and a great intro to tech, although we do think that once our kids reach middle school age we would rather transition them to something that would be more helpful with homework like a MacBook.
