A bottle of wine gets used - all these ideas are nicely designed clutter
Clutter or not, I love the flowers in a can- how cute and disposable after the flowers bloom. If my clutter was that pretty, I wouldn't mind it so much!
That key shaped bottle opener is really cute. I wish the ribbon didn't say SuckUK, though.
Totally agree with janet.
I'd rather have something I don't have to hang onto. Wine, grower from a local microbrew, candles, artisan chocolates, or a GC to pretty much anywhere is much better.
Most of these seem useful to me... candle, bottle opener, soap. Those seem like reasonable gifts. If you're at a party, the swizzle sticks would be used immediately!
Some of the other gifts, like cups and salt & pepper shakers could become clutter if the host doesn't need those items. I guess it just depends on how well you know the host... what their taste is and what they could actually use.
I think giving cute, homey items should be restricted to housewarming parties. Otherwise, it just makes sense to me to bring something that will be consumed at the party.
Great post - keep 'em coming!
Because everyone needs $50 saki cups....
Yep, I'm with Janet, too.
i have to disagree with the bottle of wine folks. Having hosted a few get togethers, it gets really old when all anybody ever brings is a bottle of wine and nine times out of ten it's red wine. I would appreciate something different. It doesn't have to be something just for me, it can be other items of food such as dessert items or appetizers. Just change it up once in awhile! There's only so much of the nine bottles of wine that can be drunk before someone has to drive home!
