As a child I always wanted a bird feeder - for those of you who are bird feeding experts, what's the best place to put one? What type of seeds should you buy? I've got neglected neighbourhood birds perched on my backyard cherry tree that would love it if I installed a bird feeder!

These look great! I usually do the pine cone schmeared with peanut butter and birdseed.

I have the Orb feeder in a nice cherry red. I like it, but if you get a lot of birds like we do, you will want more than one. It doesn't hold a lot, and most birds we have seen don't like to share the space so only one can feed at a time.

If you can hang the feeder someplace not widely disturbed/visible they seem to prefer a bit of privacy. And it takes weeks/months for them to get brave enough to venture forth. They even get spooked for a few weeks when I refill either feeder. We started with a generic mix of seed, the no-waste mixes are nice as they keep the shells from decorating your space under the feeder. If you're having trouble enticing them, try a suet block/feeder, that seems to pull them in much faster. I guess we all prefer a little fat!

You guys missed the best one! It's a bit pricey but is made of teak and stainless, so it will last a long time.
