Brown and blue seems to be a color combination that can appease all members of your household. While masculine in theory, using the right hues and perfect accents can create something much more from crisp modern spaces with chocolate browns and teals to country comfort with lots of wood and pale blues.
Here's a roundup of interiors and accents inspired by this color combination:

Sheex Bedding
I really like this color combination, but I am wondering what other colors could mix well with it. My bed has a duvet cover which is light blue and dark brown (exact same as the geomerti, and all my furniture is very dark wood tone from Ikea. I'm struggling with an appropriate paint color for the wall as well as some accent colors (wall art, etc). Anyone have any advice? It seems like a nice muted green might work, but I am reticent to paint my walls green.
Although I'm in a white and brown period (had brown and blue a few years ago), I think brown and blue are the most perfect colors together!

Scoot, maybe an ice-blue, almost white on the walls, and accents in shades of orange, either tangerine or rust. Or even teal. Try bringing in a bunch of fresh flowers in that color first, to see how it works in the space. It's a low $ commitment, and you can get some great inspiration from a grocery store bouquet.
Scoot--
I'm never a fan of green bedrooms, in all but the rarest of occasions.
I'd side with tequila red (the poster, not the color!) and do a paler version of the blue in the bedspread.... or match it exactly.
If you have a small room, it's mostly a night-time abode, and you aren't afraid of a little drama, do the same with the brown of the bedspread. It will make your dark furniture disappear. Then you can also introduce white elements (like lamps or frames).
I really like bedrooms with a limited color palette. I think they are more restful, so I'd just keep working with duplicates or variations of colors you already have and limit accent colors to other rooms.
Thanks patrick and tequila. Making the walls brown is an interesting idea, and I think orange accents will add a bit of punch to the room. What do you think about a lighter pale brown, almost like a cappaccino color on the walls. I think that will pick up the dark browns in the furniture and the spread, and also goes well with the blue on the spread. Unfortunately my bedroom IS small, but it is also my workspace (I do not work from home, but spend a lot of time on the computer as I do some freelance photography), so it needs to be restful, but not too restful!!
I was trying to do pale blue walls in the bathroom and stick to a non-blue color in the bedroom.
Our living space has a teal and brown theme, with brights bursts of limes green, yellow, and orange. It wouldn't work well for a bedroom--too "busy"--but I love it for our living space.
All the color, though, means I've left the walls white. I just can't figure out what else to do with them.
Scoot: I think the right shade of a lighter brown could work. I've also seen folks add some silver in with brown and teal, as well as black.
Scoot...
same exact thing happened to me... i also have a duvet cover with that color combination... My solution:
-Orange walls
-light orange and brown through pillows
-dark brown rug or beige.
hope that helps
Bizarre, but this is one of those color combinations that feels outdated and contrived to me. Maybe I have some personal associations with it I'm not aware of, but I just can't stand brown and blue together. It's like cool fighting with warm and and it feels off.
@ no accounting, I think you might be associating blue and brown with blue and pink (similar to blue and brown, as pink and brown are both derived from red) which is an outdated color scheme. :)
It may feel "outdated" but I still think it's a good combination. The light blue and brown dining room by designer Jonathan Berger is gorgeous!
I am always wearing this combination . . . maybe why I prefer white in my apartment.
Hasn't Jonathan Adler beaten this color combo into the ground?
Scoot--I think coral would be a more update accent color.
Here is a site that has all items in this color scheme.

Looove this color combo, it's so classic and I don't think it will ever get old (as long as it's done right).
Some colors that go well with it: pale yellow, burnt orange, greige, dark green...kind of depends on the blue hue though.
thanks for posting the link to choclateblues.com- lots of great stuff on their website!
Hmm, orange.
Depends on the blue... I'm getting a very Miami Dolphins vibe from that. :)
I was going to say the same thing about blue and aqua feeling a bit outdated. Last year, every duvet cover, plastic tray and tablecloth was this color combo. Now it's all over the discount stores.
It's still nice-looking, and maybe in a few years it'll look fresh again, but right now it sort of seems like you went out 18 months ago and bought everything in one shopping trip.
I currently have a blue/brown bedroom, and think that silver is a really nice accent.
I had my bedroom painted a rich, dark brown with white trim. I have deep, almost golden yellow accents...in a pair of simple, ceramic lamp bases with linen lampshades, an accent pillow, a yellow and white quilt at the foot of the bed, on top of a plain white duvet cover. I've added some touches of blue in the way of a couple of accessories. I'll probably add something small in red for pop. I love the brown...very rich and enveloping...great for a bedroom.
Miami dolphins??? LOL didn't think of that...
Anyway nothing like Miami Dolphins..
though its true depends on the tones...
Mine is dark brown, light blue, and burnt orange walls
I just made a post on Style Estate in response to this article titled, Chocolate Brown and Blue.
