Summertime entertaining means playful, casual outdoor parties. It's almost as if the grown-ups get to sit at the kids table and it's perfectly acceptable to set your table in crayon colored dishes.
Here's some bright and cheery items that we find highly practical (bug tent) or simply entertaining (chalkboard tablecloth) to add to your outdoor entertaining toolbox. We especially love the personal chip and dip trays, because no one really likes a double dipper.

I have a few of the Sur La Table anodized icecream bowls, and they're also the perfect size for dips or candies or nuts. Guests always compliment them.
damnit, i have been on the lookout for straws like that and they are already sold out!
Those plastic straws seem to be very seasonal. I have seen them at Crate and Barrel and Target as well -- but you have to catch them at the right time!
