While magazines and other design sites are great influences on our homes, we thought we'd turn back to our readers to find some inspiration! Here are some of our favorite examples of striking colors used in the kitchen.

I have that trash can! It's an Oxo. I'm not sure they make the yellow anymore (I got it 3-4 years ago), but you can find other finishes on their website:

It was stupidly expensive, however it is a really high quality bin. There's a little clip inside that holds the bag taut and secure, so it never peeks out under the lid or slips down inside, and the painted enamel finish is a lot easier to keep clean looking than the stainless steel bin it replaced - no more smeary streaks when it's wiped down.
