A complete reincarnation of a specific era may not be a great idea, but taking bits and pieces from years before can be great fun! We love looking at the often over-styled images of "dream bathrooms" from previous decades. Here are some of our favorites:
• 1 1940s - Penny Lane blogged about this feminine 40s bathroom that doesn't hold back on the frilly details.
• 2 1950s - We love this 1954 dream bathroom posted by Retro Renovation.
• 3 1960s - Shag, shag, shag! This retro bathroom was seen at Ouno Design.
• 4 1970s - This bathroom embodies the brown and yellow tones so popular in the 70s, seen at Ugly House Photos (which we kind of agree with in this case!)

The 40s are my favorite!
carpet does NOT belong in a bathroom. eeeewww
Love them all- I would be happy with any of them - can't say they are boring!
Swap that dark brown for a steely gray, and that 70s bathroom would look very cool to me!
Also, that 50's master suite is totally dreamy.
The shaggy carpet would feel weird in a bathroom...but I like the sink/vanity in the first.
Love the drapes in the 50s bathroom.
The color in the 70s bathroom is off for me; the brown has mauve undertones, and that is NOT good.
I'm not sure that the naked woman crouched on the sink unit is a design element that would fit with the rest of my scheme...
Wow, these make the boring neutral bathrooms you see on any given HGTV show look pretty sad!

The shag run in the bathroom reminds me of when my pooches are getting a bath and they shake and their wet shedded hair sticks everywhere and stays stuck for-ever.
eww.
I like the idea of the sink in front of a window, as seen in the first photo. although I'd need another vanity with lights as most of my bathroom grooming is done when it's dark outside (early to work, then late to come home). before long my eyebrows would make Brooke Shields circa 1980 envious (oh who am I kidding, I'd end up looking like the Geico caveman!)
Horrors! All of them are ugly!
I actually kind of liked the 70s one...am I banned from reading here now? :D
Very interesting choices here. The 60's photo looks like it's gotta be late in the decade and in the mod/space age movement and not one I'd have chosen, the 70's bathroom has some interesting elements but I think it's over done a bit.
