I have a few moon globes... the coolest ones are the mid-century ones from the 1950's and early 60's.
On these vintage globes, one side is labeled with the names of all the craters, etc. The other side is blank, because prior to 1959 (Soviet Luna 3 probe) no one knew what was on the dark-side of the moon -- since as it orbits the Earth, this side is permanently turned away from our view.
Due to the Cold War, the early American globes still didn't have anything to put on the dark-side of the globes until 1968 (when Apollo 8 first orbited the moon).
So... any moon globe you find with the dark-side blank is vintage and highly collectible.
I bought my nephew an illuminated globe for Xmas from http://www.worldglobes.com/
They have a great selection in various styles and sizes, and shipping was fast and reasonable.

We have some great really old ones at White Elephant Vintage. Globes are one of our favourite finds because we love dating them. It makes us feel all detective like.
This one and this one were made after 1948, as it includes Isreal, and before 1953 because Korea has not been divided. This one is an illuminated one that still has USSR and Zaire. And This globe is dated somewhere between 1958-1961, as Egypt is called United Arab Republic.
So neat!

With old globes, I always check a few names to date them too. I use the ones you mentioned as well checking whether the capital of Turkey is Constantinople or Istanbul, which dates it to before or after 1930.
