Lately I have been obsessed with the color gray. It may have something to do with the impending Fall and Winter seasons or the fact that most things in my home at this moment are white, and I am ready for a color overhaul. I have finally made space in my living room to add two comfy reading chairs near the fireplace and the wingback style chair has piqued my interest. After all, the design of the wingback was originally intended to shield us from drafts and to add some protection to the face when in front of a blaring fire.
I love the tallness and sturdiness of these chairs and that the "wings" are a place for you to rest your head and arms. Most versions pictured here are broad enough to get both feet curled up onto the seat for the ultimate in tucked-in coziness.
These 10 grey(ish) wingback chairs are beautifully designed and they range in price from expensive to who in the world can afford that? But this is for inspiration, so drool on.

I like most of these, but for some reason I'm drawn to #3. Almost looks like origami.
love these- every one! thanks for sharing.
Love the Kara Mann
I enjoy how wingbacks can shield you from blazing fires, and from blaring (noisy) environments.
Curling up in one is like entering a chair of silence.
this reminds me that i need to reupholster or find a slipcover for my wingback.
I've been thinking about reupholstering my wingback either in dark grey, or navy/black stripes. Lately I've been leaning towards grey, and leaving color for pillows or blankets. I love that first chair, though, its totally lovely.
deedel its like you read my mind. Ive been trying to decide how i want to reupholster a pair of wingbacked chairs. Ive thought about navy and white stripes but my chairs are tufted and i think that would look a little strange but im not sure. But looking at all of these beautiful grey wingback chairs i think ive made up my mind.
I want that west elm chair! It would be perfect in front of a roaring fire, complete with book and brandy.
that west elm chair is lovely. the price tag not so much. AT - perhaps you could do a tutorial on reupholstering furniture? That is something I would love to get tips on.
I have the most awesome and perfect wingback. The arm rests go all the way to the back and the wings curve around them. Much more comfortable than the traditional wingback that makes you rest your elbows slightly in front of your body.
I have a faux fur throw on mine and it's the comfiest place to read before bed.
All the chairs look very comfortable. Would love to have them at home and relax on them..
