That kitchen is totally gorgeous in Somethings Gotta Give ohhhh and The Holiday with cameron diaz....her kitchen in that movie is awesome as well as the entire house!!!
I'm having a hard time believing that the "modest galley kitchen" makeover came in at under $300. Not with a granite countertop added.

@sypage I don't think "modest galley kitchen" makeover used granite, those countertops look like some sort of fiberboard or laminate which is REALLY inexpensive. Especially if you lay it yourself. I would believe that the paint and supplies came (just barely) under $300.
@roseslaw Actually, clicking through the link, the article specifically says, "... absolute black granite counters were our splurge..." so it is indeed granite. The granite look laminates can get close to the granite patterns, but they never get the same shine.
I'm not sure what the last picture is of. What change is it showing?
the "modest kitchen makeover" cost about $2500, according to the homeowner (as posted in the comments of the original post). soooo....it doesn't exactly make the cheapo cut. but it's by far the best before/after of the 5 and it's great inspiration!
