We've noticed that it's been a bit map crazy around Apartment Therapy for a while--we've been loving the abundance of cartography-themed ideas. Maps as wallpaper, unique takes on mapping, and framed large-scale maps have been some of our favorites. In the spirit of things, we've decided to roundup some of our favorite map themed pieces here...
We found this image on Happy Mundane's write up on Vanessa Coyler, from InsideOut. This floormat is used as a piece of art in this display--and we love it! Available from Seletti, these mats are a bit pricey, but really, really pretty!
This gorgeous image is a map created by the flight paths of every single scheduled flight on any given day. This awesome image is available in poster form here. We found Air Lines over at swissmiss design blog/studio.
Glorious Walls has a world map in vinyl for walls. We've seen lots of vinyl wall decor, but we love the whole world at our hands!
Road maps, transit maps, and atlases always appeal to us, and we love the colors that are often used. Carolina Cottage has taken maps from all over and made these great trays available in her Etsy shop. We can see a set of these in our office or living room...

In Said Business School in Oxford they have 2 amazing maps of airline flight paths, one for each side of the globe, printed in white on dark blue or black (can't recall). They're HUGE, maybe 5 x 4 or so, and absolutely beautiful...does anyone know where such a thing can be obtained? I've wanted them for years!
i love map-anything. these are gorgeous, all of em. love the expensive mats the best, but that flight plan (!!!) map. wow.
The Air Lines poster is beautiful. Have seen others like it but this is my favorite so far.
Kind of a bummer that the recommended shipping for the poster to be sent outside of Europe is more than the actual poster itself though. Maybe I miss understood their website.
'misunderstood' rather.
About the airlines map, you can also get this one for free and print it
