Last year I fell in love with tripod lamps while working on a late night design project for school. I am revisiting the lamps again and incorporating another tripod lamp into a living room design. I just had to have the Blu Dot Stilt Lamp to complete my friend's space and she agreed!
Main Image, shown above: Adjustable Metal Floor Lamp by West Elm $149

The Stilt Floor Lamp by Blu Dot: iSquared $399

Kenroy Surveyor Floor Lamp: Lamps Plus $152

Carriage Floor Lamp: Plantation $495

Pacific Coast Lighting - Tripod Floor Lamp in Walnut: CSNLighting.com $220
Tripod Lamps I can only dream about (one day):

Cerrillos Floor Lamp by Jonah Meyer: Matter $2,500

Teak Tripod Lamp by Luxus: Dual $9,800
The tripod base is a classic design and demands attention in any space - for even more tripod lamps, see part one of my roundup: In Love with Tripod Floor Lamps.

I luuurv tripod lamps! Some of these are friggin' gorgeous! The Pacific Coast Lighting one especially!
Just one little pet peeve thingy: if it has more or less than 3 legs, it's NOT a tripod! (tripod = "three-footed") ... So this includes the one shown in the main picture.
Am loving the west elm one in the main image & blu dot one...and the Luxus one is soooooo elegant but soooooo expensive!!
I love tripod lamps too! I found a really cool surveyors tripod on ebay for next to nothing and created a fab lamp. However, it's not easy to find a large drum shade, say 19" in diam or larger...how about some help in that arena???
My partner and I where at West Elm and I spotted this lamp. He loved it and said it would look good. About a month later, I bought it for the apartment. Needless to say, we love it!!
I believe Tripod Lamps are ideal for small spaces because they do not take up much visual space. Also you can see through/around them which will make small rooms feel larger. I need to pick up one these lamps for my small living room.
Someone could do a cool DIY of the Cerillos lamp. There's not a lot going on there.
Great lamps, I really like the tripod ones. I have actually seen a few with little trays in the middle to put things on. Johnathan Adler maybe?
Great pics, thanks for sharing

I saw a nice one at the Crate and Barrel outlet store. Then I imagined tripping over a leg as I cut through my small living room into my kitchen one dark morning.
I really love the cabinets/cases! Can you tell me what they are and where they are from?
ohh love tripod lamps. I have a short tripod lamp on one of my living room side tables. It provides just enough visual detail and oddly so gave the room a bit of a masculine edge to it (its brown 'leather' wrapped legs with silver tips) I love the look.
forget the lamp - what about that wall paper? it's beautiful, any idea where it's from?
to the author: some of these lamps are quite beautiful, but please educate yourself a bit further on what constitutes a "tripod."
I'm in love with Ikea's Torna (except the shade).
In theory, I love tripod lamps but in practice.... I don't even have a coffee table so that my pooches have more space to play with toys. A tripod lamp would not enjoy much longevity in my house.
still love the Santa & Cole lamp. Saving up for it.
$10,000 for a lamp? Spare me!
I love my DWR tripod lamp - got it for $90 in basically unused condition last year. I think it's my best craigslist find yet and it gets compliments all the time.
Ditto the comments on the wallpaper and bookshelves! Where did they come from?
