With the influx of mobile applications that enter into the market these days, last week's best apps could be overshadowed by an entirely new set this week. However, good apps withstand the test of time. We recently read up on the Must-Have apps for March 2011 and wanted to share some of our favorites that are tried and true.
Here's a roundup of our current top five favorites:
GO SMS: This has always been one of our favorite chat apps with an awesome UI that is fast and easy to use. They just released GO SMS PRO for free which has all the capabilities of GO SMS but with a wide range of new customization features with individual contacts, ringtones, built-in contacts and a better group messaging experience.
Astrid Task: For productivity, Astrid Task has provided the best task recording experience so far. How does it stand apart from the rest of the to-do list apps out there? Our favorite features are the filters with widgets (only for power users) that make categorization much easier at a glance on which tasks are most important, completed, or even recently modified. Lastly, cute characters are always a plus, and we like Astrid's cartoon octopus.
Astro File Manager: This app can backup Android Apps to an SD card, and therefore is a must-have in freeing up internal memory. You can also send files as attachments in email, browse and compress files and there is an image viewer that turns all the images in your directory into thumbnails.
Swype: Swype is an application that we feel uses the beauty of a touchscreen for a more productive means of texting. Some of us are iPhone users and trust me, we've had our share of typos and ridiculous spell-check corrections in our messages. Sywpe is a fluid, intuitive way to avoid those awkward text messages.
Appbrain: We are of course, always looking for the next best thing out there even though we have a collection of the best tools. Appbrain does a great job in finding the next hottest apps in the market, and all of them are legal.
