There's not a whole lot of shopping resources for Chicago pets in AT's archives - but we'd like to change that. So far, Barker and Meowsky, Rogers Bark, and Sam & Willy's top the list. Please add your favorite neighborhood pet shop (independent retailers? unique spot?) in the comments below so we can follow up with some informative posts that will forever live in our archives. Next up on our list: the Old Town Aquarium (all links below).

Wigglyville, on Broadway in Lakeview, is great! The owner works in the shop and obviously loves animals. They have tons of pet beds, collars, costumes (love!), toys, and gave me a lot of good advice for a problem my cat had.
The website is here: http://www.wigglyville.com/OurVillage/ourvillage.html
I have to second Wigglyville. I don't live near there, so I don't get down there very often, but the owners and staff are very friendly and very knowledgeable.
Kriser's for food and supplies!

For Dog's Sake is hands down the best pet store in Chicago! (although Kriser's is pretty good too...) Marcia and her staff are extremely knowledgeable and happy to help with any questions. They have a full selection of holistic remedies, eco-friendly toys, and the best range of healthy foods out there. It's convenient to Wicker Park, Logan Square, and Humbolt, but a bus stops right at the front door if you are coming from farther away. And they will deliver to you. check out the website here.
This place is the number one thing I miss about Chicago, and I'll definitely go out of my way to make a trip there when I'm back in town for a visit.

The ladies at Doggy Style on Division near Damen have been great!

Why are there so many awesome places in Chicago and next to none in Boston? Can anyone suggest Boston spots?
I shop at Spoiled Rotten Pets on Lincoln and Altgeld. It's right down the street, and the people who work there are always nice.
Urbanimal, on Devon near Broadway, is great...nice people, good advice, good quality stuff (and, of course, nice "store doggies" who sniff you when you come in the door).
Ruff Haus Pets, right by the Rockwell Brown Line stop! They also do adoption events with Tree House Animal Foundation.

a second for ruff haus and a vote for wag your tail (and its undesirable location at 6803 w. addison) for herbal remedies and natural foods and treats.
Sirius Cooks in Oak Park. It's right off the Austin stop on the blue line. A great place for all natural, organic pet foods.
