You ever have one of those days when it just feels like the earth hates you? Nothing seems to go right, stress is at an all-time high, and nothing sounds more inviting than crawling back into bed and giving up on the day completely. (That was yesterday, when morale was at an all-time low). Well, according to a study conducted at Rutgers University, women who received flowers felt euphoric for three days as opposed to women who got candles or candy--the buzz didn't even last into the afternoon. So here's an easy, scientifically proven way to help a female friend out of her funk: bring her some flowers. Considering that fresh flowers seems to rank consistently in our top five home indulgences, we've compiled a few tips on where to get them (for cheap...er), how to arrange them, and how to keep get them to last a few days longer...

hey now, I think gentlemen would enjoy some flowers, too! and there's no need to sit around waiting for someone else to bring you flowers, (though, yes, they are just a little extra special when they're a gift)! I bought some daffodils a few days ago and waking up with them right next to me on my nightstand puts a smile on my face that lasts all day!
Picked up a pot of calla lilies instead of cut ones at the grocery store around Valentine's Day. 5 were "blooming", 5 more have opened up in a different color, and I am still enjoying them. I may go with the longer lasting potted versions more often.
If you live near a farmers' market they usually sell beautiful protea and desert flowers for $6. I buy them every week at the Hollywood farmers' market. They last a long time, smell great and look really unusual. They're also great cheap gifts for any guy or gal who's having a tough day.
