Fall always seems to mark the return of medieval mania. We've noticed this year's Gothic revival has a distinctly Tudor bent. While we love it in a good period film, the more-is-more mantra of traditional Tudor style doesn't really jibe with our modern sensibilities. Here are some Tudor-inspired accessories that take a less literal approach to the trend.
- Modern Decor With Medieval Roots
- Ruffled collars added texture and softness to more structured Tudor silhouettes. Anthropologie's Estuary lamp shade lets you do to the same - $88
- To display their fine undergarments, Tudors added cutouts and slashes to their garments. The laser cut felt wool runner from Brocade Home presents a modern variation on the theme - $299
- Reminiscent of the tall narrow windows found in Tudor homes, the new Window Headboard from West Elm lets you add updated period style without sacrificing your view - $199 - $329
- Anyone who has seen an episode of The Tudors knows they love to pile on the bling. These hobnail mercury glass vases from Mothology would add just the right amount of sparkle to any room - $62 - $84
- The Iron Feather from Jayson Home combines two popular forms of Tudor adornment: metal and feathers - $25
- The jewel-toned velvet and bronze nail heads on the Liam Sofa by MItchell Gold & Bob Williams oozes Tudor elegance.
- A nod to Gothic archways, the mirror-backed wall rack from Urban Outfitters adds a touch of period detail (and a place to hang your keys!) - $28
- The cast resin Klemm Chandelier by oly studio coveys the bold, raw character of antique forged iron - $2,199 from Shop Candelabra
- Thomas Paul combines historic patterns with contemporary colors like this damask rug in soothing powder blue and cream. $270 - $1,464 from Design Public
