Often, when we post a colorful, playfully designed item on AT, we hear the comment that "it would be great in a kids room". We figure the other way around works too, so while looking for ways to inject some color into our living spaces during color month, we decided to put the theory to work for a roundup - could we find some kids items that could possibly make the leap into a more grown-up room?

The swatches shown above the jump are from this Priti Patchwork Quilt. It comes in a full/queen size for $179. and would brighten up even the darkest wintery bedroom (and is priced a bit less than the colorful quilts ala Anthropologie).
A Color Block Rug that could easily make the transition into a grown-up room - it is even available in a living room ready 8x10.
With a set or two of these vintage-style Alphabet Flash Cards ($14.95), you could decorate a corner of your home that needs a little bit of color (and whimsy). Check out Sarah's recent post of her flash card installation for inspiration.
Storage spots for smallish stuff is always welcome and these sets of Three Mini Suitcases ($19.99) come in six great colors (orange, pink, red, purple, blue and green).
Girly, yes, but if you can work with a bit of floral, this set of three Hatboxes ($39.00) can provide color and storage.
All items shown are from Land of Nod.

Target used to sell a colorblock rug very similar to that one. I bought mine four or five years ago; unfortunately (but unsurprisingly), I was unable to find it on their website.
Here's a picture of it in my old living room.
(Please also enjoy the $40 futon and the salvaged end tables. Ah, college decorating!)
We have the Land of Nod's Priti Patchwork Quilt in our bedroom! I liked the smaller and more geometric patterns (as well as the smaller price) better than some of the larger-scale styles at Anthropologie. In our case, I tried to make it more grown-up with Orla Kiely wallpaper, dark wood, and watery blue walls, and lots of creamy white to tie it all together...
Here's a photo right after we finished painting and installing wallpaper--not completely finished, but you get the idea.
