A modern old-fashioned shop.
An oxymoron, yes, but it does describe RR#1 Chicago. It is housed in a 1930's apothecary just north of Chicago Avenue on Ashland, and is full of original details like mosaic floors and heavy wooden cabinetry.
The modern part comes in when you start browsing the merchandise.
RR#1 offers an eclectic selection of (reasonably-priced!) goods that are perfect for gifts, but tempting for yourself.
We especially liked the selections of: candles, tea, cleaning supplies and soaps. Local Chicago stuff: candles from Snow and Graham are $22. and Cocoa Room candies are $10. Rustic looking coasters featuring a wide assortment of images are just $10. Deliciously scented diffusers from K. Hall are $42. (we love this product).

I love this place. If you ever need a birthday present for someone, regardless of what age or gender, you'll find something here. Plus I like that it is an independently owned, local shop and not a chain.
this is my favorite gift shop in chicago. everyone must go!
A pioneer in the area. The Sherris have created a destination here. The shop is so charming--a former apothecary. They have great cards and jewelry and more...a must for a birthday gift, housewarming, whatever!
I drive down from Wilmette, past tons of shops, to buy candles and great gifts from Sherri. Oodles of tasty goodies with charm galore!
Time to do some Stocking Stuffer shopping!
