If you're a fan of the SyFy series Caprica, you've probably drooled over the Graystones' modern and geeky mansion. One of the highlights of their home are the large lake view windows, which also play double duty as video screens. While the Graystones' architecture is all fiction, Runco has devised an oversized display that gives a very similar effect.
The Runco WindowWall is a modular flat panel digital display. You decide how large you want the screen and a grid of smaller screens is made to create a single large display. Each panel is super thin -- only 4.5 inches -- and once put together, have an image-to-image gap of only 0.28 inches.
The 3x3 display configuration provides a 10.1 foot wide screen with 1080p, 16:9 aspect ratio, and 3000:1 contrast ratio. You can select a predesigned configuration or come up with your own to fit your home to a T. You can even curve the screen into nooks within your home.
It reminds us of Magink's SmartBricks, but with more of an eye on video.

Aww, it doesn't change to transparent windows!
Just a point of interest, the Greystone house is not entirely fiction. The interior is a near identical copy of an Arthur Erickson designed house on a similar inland bay. The original house was in fact used for the filming of the pilot episodes, and was re-created near verbatim for the series.
You can read more about it at the Mod House Media Watch blog:

I work for a loudspeaker company in KC. We've used a product for years that, coupled with a DLP projector, can turn any sheet of glass into a tv screen (and is still fairly transparent when not in use) here's a link (not sure if this is the exact product but is very similar)

We use our Solid Drive tranducers (they turn the glass, or any flat surface into a speaker) in conjunction with this and it's a real show stopper at CEDIA
