This barn conversion in France is home to a small family living a completely modern life within a heavy timber and stone structure. The home is filled with modern mixed with rustic: streamlined black kitchen cabinets against two-foot-thick stone walls. A minimalist platform bed set under rough-hewn wood framing. Check out more inspiring photos of the home from this month's issue of Living etc.
That stair up top strikes the perfect chord between historic and contemporary: rough stone in material but a sleek cantilevered design.

holy cow, so beautiful
LOVE IT!!
What a dreamy, dreamy place. Sooooo nice.
It's gorgeous. (Also the most child-unfriendly place I've ever seen, but that's another story). I'm drooling.
Very nice.
Beautiful! This is all about the texture and the restriction of the palette to neutrals and natural tones. Allows you to really make a statement with small expressions of color like the fruit on the dining table. I wonder where they store possessions like books?
